The first edition of the International Awards' ENO-T concludes Wine & Tourism', the event that combines quality of wine and projection of wine tourism
ENO-T has brought together for the first time in a contest wineries that are firmly committed to wine tourism
On July 16, the tasting sessions corresponding to the first edition of ENO-T Wine & Tourism, Wine quality competition in the field of wine tourism. This contest, organized by Alamesa Wine & Beer Action Marketing and that is sponsored by the Spanish Association of Journalists and Wine Writers AEPEV and the Spanish Wine Tourism Association AEE, is committed to rewarding the best wines produced by wineries that develop wine tourism proposals. In this way, it seeks promote and give visibility to wine tourism as one of the fundamental engines of the wine sector, helping to promote the activities that many wineries develop in their surroundings, focused on showing their work to the visitor.
This first edition of the contest had a total of 37 participating wines, from various regions of Spain and Portugal. The tasting session was chaired by Mr. Ernesto Gallud, who led a group of judges in the field of sommelier, oenology, communication, training and marketing of wine in the evaluation of the participating samples. In addition, the Contest was attended by Mr. José Antonio Vidal, founder and president of the Spanish Wine Tourism Association AEE, who highlighted in his opening speech the important work carried out by the contest in order to promote wine tourism and enhance its image globally.
Regarding the results of the contest, a total of 14 distinctions, divided into 8 Gold and 6 Silver Medals, awarded to the participating wines that obtained a higher score in the tasting sessions. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the diversity of origins of the registered wines, which is reflected in the medal table of the Contest through a good number of wineries from different producing regions.
As for white wines, it was The participation of wines from the Galician Rías Baixas was very notable. In the category of rosé wines, he was awarded a Silver medal The Pitxotxa Rosé from the Alicante winery Ortigosa wineries, while vermouth Padró Rojo Amargo from the Tarragona winery Parent and Family obtained a Gold medal. Finally, in the category of red wines aged for more than 12 months, the most popular of the contest, 5 Gold and one Silver medals were awarded to wineries such as Arzuaga Navarro, Aníbal Otero, Baigorri, Vega Tolosa y Bell Ampordá.
The award-winning wines will not only be able to wear a badge on their bottles that accredits them as very high quality products, but they will also be able to boast of to perfectly combine outstanding work in the winery with an interesting wine tourism proposal, which will undoubtedly encourage tourists and visitors to discover its facilities and participate in its activities related to the world of wine.
Finally, the Organization of the Contest will work during the next months to make these wines and wine tourism projects known to the world, through specialized media, presentations and participation in fairs, international exhibitions, tastings and sectoral meetings, thus being able to reach an even larger public and more interested in the combination of wine and tourism.
